Kim is available to work with individuals that do not have insurance and may require a reduced rate. She will be splitting her time between our Edmonton office and seeing students in Westview Middle School in Stony Plain.
Kim is a counselling student with over 30 years experience working in financial and educational settings, with a focus on helping others. In Kim’s financial background, she worked with clients to find solutions to various financial situations, ranging from lending to investing. In Kim’s educational career, she worked with students grades two to post-secondary level, in a variety of roles including teacher, supervisor, and coach. Kim worked as an Instructional Coach with teachers, collaborating with them to implement new initiatives and technology into classroom practices. Kim also supervised student-teachers during their introductory and advanced placements. In each of these experiences, Kim worked collaboratively with various internal and external groups, focusing on a holistic and resource-based approaches.
Although new to Counselling Psychology, Kim has spent over three decades counselling and supporting adolescents and adults with a variety of life challenges. She is part of the “sandwich” generation, who are often responsible for caring for children and adults simultaneously and for navigating the challenges which come with this stage of life. Kim takes a broad approach to exploring why someone comes to counselling. With gentle compassion, she works with individuals to sort through their challenges and to draw on their strengths and resources to find solutions that work for them.
Kim is currently completing her Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle and holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master in Teacher Librarianship from the University of Alberta.
Kim will be doing initial intake assessments with clients when available. She will also be doing individual counselling under direct supervision of David Buhr.
