Alistair Boere, CCC

Alistair has spent most of his 7+ years of practice so far in the non-profit field in Edmonton, working with people who could not ordinarily afford to access therapy as they deal with a broad range of issues. This experience has taught him that ‘big’ problems don’t intimidate him and that ‘small’ problems deserve attention, too.

Clients experience working with Alistair as collaborative and team-focused, putting their values and priorities first. They are invited to think about the broader context of their problems, thinking purposefully about who they want to become, and enlisting potential allies in their lives to their cause. Clients enjoy his sense of humor and irony, especially young adults (who also like that he gets at least some of their ‘online’ references). Alistair’s practice is heavily influenced by Narrative Therapy, but he also uses interventions from a number of other modalities. Alistair is particularly interested in issues of values and identity including working with young adults and other life transitions, sexual and gender identity and queerness, religious/spiritual identity and trauma, chronic health issues and disability, among others.

Alistair is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and has a Masters Degree specializing in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy. His years in agency work have given him extensive experience in collaborating with other professionals and navigating government and health care systems, and he would be happy to help you build a community of support as you and he work together to achieve your goals.
